Course Lessons

Welcome to National University Health Sciences and the virtual courses for the CCSP® program.

Completing the 100-hour course qualifies one to sit for the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP®) certification examination leading to the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® certification.

According to the ACBSP® certification handbook, the 12-hour Emergency Procedures class is required to be in person. This live class is held one-two times a year at a National University Health Sciences campus. https://nuhspostgrad.formstack.com/forms/ccsp_ep_2023

The courses are listed in order of the ACBSP® handbook, but are not required to be taken in specific order. The courses are also available for general continuing education; those already holding a CCSP® or DACBSP® may elect to take courses to maintain their required CEUs.

Once certified, the CCSP® is required to complete 12 CEU hours each year and the DACBSP® is required to complete 24 CEU hours each year in the sports realm. While there are many ways to accrue the hours, refresher courses are any easy option.

Courses:
1.    Concepts of a Sports Physician- Holly Moriarty, DC, DACBSP® & Anne Sorrentino, DC, DACBSP®: 8hr
2.    Exercise Physiology and Adjunctive Therapies- Thomas Young, DC, DACBSP®: 12 hrs
3.    Sports Nutrition- Brian Anderson, DC, CCN, MPHS, MS: 15 hrs

8.    Special Populations: Clinical Considerations of Pediatric, Senior Athletes, Women and Differently-abled athletes- Anne Sorrentino, DC, DACBSP®: 6 hrs.

At the conclusion of this course there will be an exam containing multiple questions. A passing grade of 70% or better is needed in order to receive credit for this course.

***STUDENTS: the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP™) only allows chiropractic students to take one CCSP® course or topic while still enrolled in university. Current doctoral students would take the remainder of the hours required to sit for the CCSP® exam after they attain their DC degree.
